This third volume of the Catalogue Raisonné of Sergei Sakharov/Saint Sophrony’s work comprises various themes. Some of the works illustrated originate from his workshop, where he had several assistants and collaborators. Therefore, not all the drawings reproduced are by Saint Sophrony, although many bear corrective lines added by his hand. Other works presented were closely directed by him. In addition, subjects that were omitted in the earlier volumes, such as embroideries, wrought-iron decor and carpet designs, have been included. Moreover, during the preparation of this volume, discoveries of previously unknown works came to light, helping to fill gaps in Saint Sophrony’s life and artistic trajectory. The catalogue starts with two closely intertwined and remarkable accounts.
